Frequently Asked Questions

What is Beta Theta Pi Giving Day?

The Giving Day Challenge is an opportunity for brothers and friends to celebrate Beta Theta Pi’s impact on its members and bolster pride in this Great and Good Fraternity while encouraging friendly competition between chapters.

Taking place over 1 day, 8 hours and 39 minutes, gifts made during the event provide unrestricted funds to the Beta Leadership Fund and support expanded leadership program attendance and mental health resources for the Fraternity’s collegiate brothers.

In the spirit of friendly competition, chapters will compete throughout the event based on both total dollars raised and number of donors. Chapters that come up victorious will receive special recognition prizes (more on that below).

A few rules to keep things fair:

  • Chapters will be split into two divisions based on number of living members: (1) chapters with fewer than 1,000 living members, and (2) chapters with 1,000 living members or more.
  • There will be two winners for each division: (1) the chapter with the most unique individual donors, and (2) the chapter raising the most dollars.
  • Competitions end at 8:39 p.m. EDT on the final day of the event.

Donors must give a minimum of $10 to be counted and may only be credited for a chapter once.

What are we competing for?

While we know all donors give out of their love for Beta Theta Pi, we get it – a prize sounds nice, too. Chapters will be divided into two divisions: those with fewer than 1,000 living members, and those with 1,000 or more living members. Division winners for total donors and dollars raised will receive one of the following prizes:

  • A catered brotherhood event complete with FREE food prepared by professional chefs, courtesy of Giving Day Challenge sponsors Greek House Chefs and Upper Crust.
  • $500 merchandise credit courtesy of Campus Ink and the Beta Foundation to be uses for chapter recruitment shirts or other Beta-branded apparel.

All winners will have their chapter’s name prominently memorialized on a plaque in the Administrative Office.

How will the Beta Foundation use my gift?

Gifts made during the Giving Day Challenge support the Beta Leadership Fund which all chapters benefit through:

  • Expanded attendance at Beta’s award-winning leadership programs

  • Advisor and volunteer training opportunities

  • Mission-driven initiatives, such as the Beta Brotherhood and Beta Volunteer Assessments

  • And much more!

How do I maximize my giving as a Canadian brother?

All gifts to the Beta Canada Foundation directly benefit collegiate brothers at British Columbia, Carleton and Toronto chapters and count toward the Giving Day Challenge. Donations made by Interac e-transfer or cheque also receive a charitable donation receipt to file with your 2026 Canadian tax return. Here’s how to make your gift:

INTERAC

  1. Add BetaThetaPiFoundationOfCanada@gmail.com as a payee.
  2. Auto-deposit is in place, so a security question is not required.
  3. Designate your preferred chapter in the note field.

CHEQUE

  1. Make your cheque payable to Beta Theta Pi Foundation of Canada.
  2. Designate your favorite chapter or your preferred chapter on the memo line.
  3. Mail your cheque to:
Beta Theta Pi Foundation of Canada
    c/o Damian McNamee
    2376 Wildwood Cres, Pickering ON L1X 2M8
  4. Email Senior Director of Advancement Aaron Selby letting us know your cheque has been sent, the amount and the chapter you want to give credit to in the leaderboards.

Are there other ways I can make a gift?

The online giving links on this page support gifts by debit card, credit card, ACH transfer, PayPal, Venmo and digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.)

While we promise Beta’s online platform is secure (and did we mention simple?), we understand some supporters prefer to give in other ways.

Give by phone: Staff members are always available to accept your gift over the phone at 800.800.BETA.

Give by mail: To make your gift via mail and have it count toward the Giving Day Challenge, please call us to make a formal pledge to the campaign, then drop your gift in the mail to the address in the footer.

Give by stock, IRA or Donor Advised Fund: Similar to mailed gifts, we will gladly accept gifts in these other forms, but please call us before 8:39 p.m. ET on April 30 in order for these gifts/pledges to be entered and counted in the chapter competitions.
